You might have seen them: some high-energy, eye-catching, creative Thunder fans seated near the bottom of Section 103 at The Peake during Thunder playoff games. They're dressed in all sorts of off-the-wall costumes for the Thunder games. And, they've become such a fun part of the arena that people visit their section just to see what they're up to!
NewsOK: You can read more about them in the NewsOK article entitled "Accountants add to the fun at The Peake", by Jenni Carlson, May 24, 2016. Click here to read that article.
The folks at Crawford & Associates actually brainstorm their costumes! They get together around their board room table and come up with the next episode of their "Crawford Thunder". This all started during the 2012 postseason playoff games. They're not exactly sure how it all began, but they think it began when everyone decided to wear some James Harden looking beards to a game.
They've worn costumes to cheer on Russell Westbrook, Thabo Seifolosha of Switzerland, and others. They've dressed in "Wizard of Oz" character costumes to encourage Kevin Durant to remember that "There's no place like home...OKC". They've honored the incident when Draymond Green kicked Steven Adams where he shouldn't have, where they gathered around the boardroom table and spent time dreaming up their "Family Jewels" custom event.
It's such a fun deal now with the firm employees, that they really canvas all types of stores for their costumes. They may go hunt down items on the Internet or scour Oklahoma City.
Aside from all of this excitement and creativity, Crawford and Associates is an extremely busy, dedicated group of accountants. They are also completely excited about this creative, community-building part of their practice.
And, their fun and creative approach to their support for The Thunder, has garnered them some press. You can read about them in The Oklahoman as noted above. You can see pictures of their off-the-top fan costumes on the OKCthunder twitter feed, on Channel 9's website and on the NewsOK website. Below, find some links.
